Best Time to Visit China
China spans five climate zones, so the “best time” depends on where you're going. Here's a seasonal breakdown to help you plan.
🌸Spring (March–May)
One of the best seasons to visit China. Mild temperatures, blooming flowers, and fewer crowds before the summer peak. Northern cities like Beijing and Xi'an are comfortable, while southern provinces like Yunnan and Guangxi burst with color.

Hot and humid across most of China, but ideal for visiting high-altitude regions like Tibet, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. Summer is peak domestic travel season, so expect crowds at major attractions. Rainy season in southern China.
🍂Autumn (September–November)
The golden season for China travel. Comfortable temperatures, clear skies, and stunning fall foliage. October brings the National Day holiday (Oct 1–7) which is extremely busy — plan around it if possible.
